Leona R. Young, 93 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at a local hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30am Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Heartland Baptist Church. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm with family present from 5-7 and prayer service at 7pm Friday, December 10 at the church.
Leona was born September 2, 1928 in Obert, Nebraska the daughter of Raymond and Imogene (Heikes) Blatchford. She graduated from Hartington High School in 1946. Leona married Richard E. Scott on June 28, 1947, he later passed in 1963. On November 23, 1968 Leona married Vern Young, he later passed in 2009. Leona worked at Mid-American Energy (formerly Iowa Public Service) from 1957 until 1992; she also worked for R.E. Scott Company up until last week.
She loved to decorate her house for every holiday, and in her younger days Leona enjoyed sewing and making crafts. She enjoyed going to her grandkids and great grandkids school programs.
Leona is survived by her son, Bob (Karen) Scott, two brothers, Dean (Myrna) Blatchford, Denny Blatchford, sister, Ailene (Sam) Gochenour, sister-in-law, Ginger Blatchford, nine grandchildren, Rick (Mara) Scott, Barb (Jr.) Johnson, Andy Scott, Pam Frangedakis, Matt (Laura) Scott, Jesse (Patrice) Scott, Steve (Molly) Scott, Sarah (Chris) Boesch, Katie (Don) Trimble, numerous great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Richard and Vern, son, James Scott, three brothers, Loren Blatchford, Dewey Blatchford, Keith Blatchford, sister, Beverly Jensen, and special sister-in-law, Dee Blatchford.
The family would like no flowers, but to make a donation to the Siouxland Christian Schools in Leona's name.
