ELLETTSVILLE — Elmer Sutherlen, 98, of Ellettsville, formerly of Quincy, died Sunday at The Residence at McCormick's Creek in Spencer.
Born Aug. 23, 1909, in Owen County, he was the son of Jacob L. and Hattie (Dunkin) Sutherlen. He married Edna Mae Wilson on Jan. 6, 1936.
He was an electrician and contractor.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Sutherlen and his wife, Verbia, of Ellettsville, and Donald Sutherlen and his wife, Martha, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Sutherlen, on Jan. 7, 2001; his father, on Sept. 8, 1954; his mother, on April 15, 1942; three sisters, Edna C. Dunlap, Donnie Glo Whitaker and Sarah Catherine Lawrence.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. Burial will be at Mannan Cemetery in Cloverdale.
