Born in Reading, Joan was a daughter of the late George F. and Ella Mae (Leibensperger) Angstadt. She was a graduate of Hamburg Area High School and worked at the former Wenton Shoe Factory in Kutztown. For over 20 years, Joan operated her own childcare center in her home, caring for many children throughout her career.
Joan was an avid animal lover. She had many companions over the years including four dogs, two cats, two chinchillas, and many birds.
Joan is survived by her two sons, Donald L. Moyer and Randy A. Moyer, both of Richmond Township; three grandchildren, Kaylee Moyer, Brandon Moyer and Dylan Moyer. She is also survived by her siblings, Thomas M. Angstadt, Kutztown, Judith A. (Angstadt), widow of Ernest Dunkelberger, Kutztown, Linda L. (Angstadt), widow of Ricky A. Reinert, Kutztown, Christine D. (Angstadt), wife of Curtis H. Conrath, Fleetwood, and Diane C. (Angstadt), wife of Steven F. Curry, Kutztown; sister-in-law, Debra L. (George) Angstadt, Lenhartsville; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Along with her husband and parents, Joan was predeceased by her siblings, Robert G. Angstadt in 1992, Joseph W. Angstadt in 2003 and Bruce L. Angstadt in 2020.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Joan's life will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Arthur L. Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood (Maidencreek Township). Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
