Mary Anne Williams, 83, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Mary Anne was born and raised in Washington DC and attended St. Mary's Academy High School. She met her husband on a blind date at the US Naval Academy in 1956 and were married June 7, 1958. She was a dedicated and active Navy wife who volunteered her time to help others through the Navy Relief and the Catholic Women's Association. After Ray retired from the Navy she loved her work as an administrative assistant at DC Properties Insurance, traveling daily to downtown Washington for nearly 18 years. Known for her ease in frequent conversations, even with total strangers, she possessed a contagious smile and heartfelt laugh. With a zest for life, she cherished playing bridge with friends, dancing with her husband and always loved competing in a game of charades with her family. Her annual family reunion trip to Pensacola was the highlight of her year. Seeing, hugging and laughing with her family was her only desire. Above all, she was a devoted and caring mother to four children and a doting grandmother to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She loved fiercely and made everyone feel special. She was the best cook, most thoughtful gift giver, and always made time for the people she loved.

Survivors include the love of her life and husband of 63 years, CAPT James Raymond "Ray" Williams USN (RET) of Fredericksburg; sister Kathy Chandler of Chocowinity, NC; son James Raymond Williams, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Lancaster, SC; daughter Susan Williams Crasco of Spotsylvania; son Michael Lawrence Williams (Kristen) of Charlottesville; six grandchildren Allison Crasco, Christin Jobe (Jobie), Trey Williams (Allison), Sean Williams (Emily), Carleigh Crasco, and Connor Williams (Sara); three great-grandchildren Parker Gall, Maggie Jobe, and James Jobe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Rodney Cook and Anne Mary Gorman Cook; son John Frederick Williams; son-in-law John Franklin Crasco; brothers-in-law Phillip Chandler and Joe Williams; and sister-in-law Barbara Wimer.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
