Mrs. Mathis passed away December 1, in Grand Saline. She was born June 7, 1929, to Carl and Nora Stanbery of Van Zandt County. Earlene grew up in Canton and moved to Tyler in 1962. She was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. Earlene enjoyed sewing and was always a good mother and example to her children. Her biggest hobby was her love for reading true crime mysteries.

Mrs. Mathis is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Harvie Mathis, her parents, her son Michael Mathis, her 5 brothers: Calvin, Arlon, "Hawk", "Poodle", Harold and her sister Jeannie Dobbs.

Earlene is survived by her six daughters: Linda Jenkins of Tyler, Brenda and Richard Benefield of Tyler, Sandy and Dale Gilbert of Tyler, Judy and German Cubillos of Katy, Kathy Glasscock of Lindale and Kellie Moffat of Tyler; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Gail and Robert Harris of Kaufman; Dorothy and Jimmy Eisenhower of Canton.
