Rites Tuesday for Mrs. Whitaker
The funeral of Mrs. Sally B. Whitaker, a socially prominent Fort Collins woman who died Saturday night (Jan. 30, 1960) after a year's illness, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Requiem Mass will be said by Msgr. Richard M. Duffy. Burial at Fairmount Cemetery at Denver will take place at noon.

Mrs. Whitaker, the wife of Edward A. Whitaker, former state senator for Larimer County, was born in Denver on Sept. 23, 1896. After graduation from the Wolcott School and Rosemary Hall, she traveled extensively with her mother, Mrs. Annie D. Morris.

Mr. and Mrs. Whitaker were married at Denver on Sept. 24, 1917, and moved in 1918 to a farm northeast of the city, which they sold last year to the Fort Collins Country Club.

Headed Service Unit
Mrs. Whitaker's many civic and social activities included the presidency of the Larimer County Republican Women's Club. She was appointed by the late Gov. Ralph M. Carr as chairman of the Larimer County Chapter I of Volunteer Service during World War II, and directed a volunteer nursing program here. She herself served more than 500 hours as a nurse's aide at the Larimer County Hospital.

In 1944, she was elected delegate-at-large to the Republican National Convention at Chicago. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Red Cross, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Fort Collins Woman's Club and the Needlework Guild. Mrs. Whitaker also was active in the Municipal Golf Assn., and at one time won the women's golf championship of the city.

Three Children
Surviving besides her husband are three children — Edward A. (King) Whitaker III of San Rafael, Calif., Brown Whitaker of Palo Alto, Calif., and Mrs. Stephen Wheeler of Denver. There are six grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Charles L. Lowell of Denver, formerly of this city.

Mr. and Mrs. King Whitaker came here last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Brown left for their home last Thursday after visiting his parents. Mrs. Wendell Crowe of Covington, Ga., a cousin of Mrs. Whitaker, is expected to arrive here Tuesday. A niece, Mrs. Larry Doheny of Los Angeles, was expected today. The Balmer-Collins & Riddell Mortuary is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
