Galen R. Beshore, 77, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.

He was born Aug. 17, 1930, in rural Rich Hill, Missouri, to Irvin C. and Reta B. (Rapps) Beshore. He attended the sixth through 11th grades in Iola, KS, and was graduated from Rich Hill High School in 1948.

He was married to Opal Brittingham Oct. 16, 1949. The couple made their home in Iola, KS.

He served four years in the U.S. Air Force.

He delivered milk for Pet Milk and later worked as an independent insurance agent.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Iola, where he served as a deacon.

He was an avid gardener and liked to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife of the home; a son, Clay and his wife, Stephanie, Lawrence, KS; a daughter, Kelly Wonsetler and her husband, Bernie, El Dorado, KS; a nephew, Roy Brittingham, South Carolina, who grew up with the family; a sister, Willa Troxel, Moran, KS; a half sister, Susan McManus, St. Louis, MO; a half brother, Charles Beshore, Rich Hill, MO; seven grandchildren, Chelsea, Allegra and Isaac Beshore and Zachary, Madeline, Grace and Elijah Wonsetler.

A son, Michael, and a stepbrother, Tommy Waite, died earlier.

Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church in Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
