Marvin "Hammer" Thomas, 78 of Cincinnati passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at Mercy One – Centerville.
Hammer was born to Carl & Ada (Stewart) Thomas on March 28, 1943 in Centerville, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Gordie Jones and they later divorced. To this union came three children: Melinda, Jeff and Charlie.
Hammer drove a truck for years; he finished his career driving for Ben Shinn Trucking. He enjoyed watching TV, socializing with people, telling jokes and driving his truck with his dog "Hot Shot". Hammer also loved going to Walmart and sit in the parking lot while people watching. Just recently he was upset that Walmart wouldn't be open Thanksgiving morning to people watch.
Survivors include his children: Melinda Thomas, Jeff Thomas (Angela), Charlie Thomas (Kristen), 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, five step children, sister, Diane Post (David) and a sister-in-law, Paulette Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Thomas and sisters; Joann Blair and Rosalie Foster.
Funeral service will be 1030 am, Friday, December 3, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home with family present from 5-7 pm. Memorials may be given to the family which will be designated at a later date and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
