John D Campbell, an aged insane Union Soldier of the late war died at the Mitchell County insane asylym, Aug 31st, 1896. FOr many years Mr Campbell has been insane and has been cared for by the county.... He leaves six children to mourn his death, three boys and three girls, none of whom were present at the funeral. Mrs W.C. Coffield his only child residing in this part of the country, was away on a visit to her brother Dan Campbell in Oklahoma. Therefore the only relatives of the deceased who were present at the burial was a son-in-law W.O. Coffman and his four children. No funeral services were held except at the grave..... He was laid to rest in the Glen Elder Cemetery September 1st, his old soldier friends and comrades being in attendance.
John was moved to the Couch Cemetery in Jewell County, Kansas. #23442701
