JOANN ELLEN PURCELL, daughter of Irvin Levi and Lucy Ellen Digby Wood, was born July 26, 1938, in Brownfield, Missouri and departed this life August 18, 2020, at her home in Phillipsburg, Missouri, with her loving family by her side.

Joann made a profession of faith early in life and at the time of her passing had occasionally attended Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. The love and continued prayers were very important to her.

On September 20, 1958, Joann was united in marriage with Kenneth Purcell. Kenneth preceded Joann in death on April 19, 1967, leaving Joann to raise four children as a single mother. They were her top priority. She taught them the importance of faith over fear and she led by example, always displaying kindness to others, especially those in need.

After the children were raised, Joann began waitressing. She first worked at Mr. Jack's Restaurant and later Bennett Springs Restaurant. She appreciated each of her customers, as they did her.

When she had a moment of free time, Joann enjoyed a variety of hobbies. In younger years, she enjoyed fishing. She enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables and completing puzzles. She enjoyed traveling and playing BINGO as often as she could in various towns, with family and friends. When she wasn't supervising her family, she and Bobert were playing Dr. Mario. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and member of "Better Breathers Club."

Joann most treasured time spent with family. She was an active parent and grandparent, she could always be found at their sporting events and activities. She was their biggest fan and supporter. She loved each of them completely and unconditionally.

In close second to time spent with her children and grandchildren, was the time she spent with Bobert and her precious fur-baby, her poodle, Sweetie. Sweetie will be buried with Joann so they can stay together forever.

Joann leaves to celebrate her memory, her children, Randy Purcell and his wife Phyllis of Linn Creek, MO, Sandy Abbasi and her husband Mohammed of Rome, GA, Linda Adkins and Brenda Nutter, both of Phillipsburg, MO; nine grandchildren, Cindy Anthony, Randi Lea O'Quinn and Jayson, Amanda Abbasi, Yousef Abbasi and Shireen, Christopher Adkins and Kahre, Andrea Adkins, Joshua Nutter and Lizzie, Jacob Nutter and Amanda and Jennifer Nutter; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Tyler Anthony and Monyka, Ted Anthony and Autumn Bohannon, Logan Fourt, Levi Hoban, Jayton O'Quinn, Bita, Tara and Nava Abbasi, Colt and Taten Adkins, Olivia Lobaton, Liz Judy, Abigail Richards, Leo Arrends, Carter Nutter, Jayci and Garrett Nutter, Ty Archer, Caden Nutter, Alyssa Dismang and Ethan Nelson; one great-great grandchild, Sayge Nutter; one great-great-grandchild on-the-way, Gunnar Anthony; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; neighbors and many friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Shirley Burroughs, Lee Wood and Betty Aldridge; and her significant other of over thirty-five years, Robert Loeber on July 28, 2020.

Joann loved deeply. She cared for others and had a heart of gold. We will miss her tremendously here, but what a wonderful promise to know we will see her again one day at the pearly gates, one the other side of Jordan.
