John Paul Cox, Sr., 63, of South Main Street, Candor, died Wednesday (10-30-02) at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday (1 1-3-02) at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Burdette officiating. Burial with full military rites followed in Candor Cemetery.
A native of Harford County, Maryland, Mr. Cox was retired from the military, serving 20 years in the Army and 20 years in civil service. He served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kilby Cox; daughter, Kathy Horn of the home; son, John Paul Cox, Jr. of Siler City; sisters, Alice Jones of Aberdeen, MD, and Ozette Goss of Denver, CO; brother, Francis Cox of Aberdeen, MD; and five grandchildren.
