Eileen was born October 1, 1923, in Dallas City, Illinois, the daughter of Alva and Ida (Schultz) Putney. She married Robert G. Bice on January 11, 1947.
She is survived by her three daughters, Brenda Nickas of Knoxville, Illinois, Judy Voeller of Galesburg, and Janice (Mike) Anderson of Abingdon, Illinois; six grandchildren, Shelley (Charles) Purifoy, Deborah Padilla, Gregory Wiley all of Galesburg, Susan Heynen of Knoxville, Jeff (Ginger) Nickas of Alpha, Illinois and Cara (Adam) Mize of Dunlap, Illinois; twelve great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, and a sister, Virginia Deppe.
Eileen attended elementary school in Wataga and later attended Galesburg schools. She worked for Butler Manufacturing, Protexall, and Gale Ward Sporting. Eileen also helped her husband on the farm, picking up hay and working the tractors. She was a member of the East Galesburg Community Church.
Eileen was an extraordinary baker, known for her pies, especially her lemon meringue. She enjoyed working in her yard and keeping a meticulous flower garden. Eileen had a love for animals, including her cat, Lucy.
