She was born October 21, 1936 in Crestline and was the daughter of Clarence H. and Anna I. (Shoulders) Gerberich. Carol married Richard Dean Shockley on May 19, 1956 and he preceded her in death after 51 years of marriage on July 6, 2007.
Carol graduated from Crestline High School in 1954 and worked 23 years in the accounting department at Covert Manufacturing in Galion. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Galion where she was active with the Deborah Circle. Carol volunteered for the former HomeCare Matters and had been previously active with 4-H as advisors and showing horses.
She is survived by her children, Mark Jon (Marjorie) Shockley of Wilmington, Ohio and Lucinda Ann (Grant) Sands of Bucyrus; daughter-in-law, Jody Shockley of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Logan LeAnn (Mason) Brocwell and Shelbie Jo Sands; great-grandson, Maxon Michael Brocwell; three step-grandchildren, Tara Sands, Michael (Christy) Bochenek and Melissa Dolan; five step-great grandchildren, Nathan Dolan, Emily Dolan, Boedy Gruey, Grady Gruey and Henry Bochenek and three sisters-in-law, Pat (John) Fisher, Carlene Harrell and Nihla Harrell.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Alan Shockley and her siblings, Virginia, Richard, Barbara, Neil, Patricia, Duane, Kent, Larry and Sharon.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 with Rev. Heather McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
