Charles Stephens, 89, passed away Tuesday evening, November 23, 2021, at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born July 4, 1932 at Shetleys Creek, Madison County, MO, he was the son of Henry Clarence and Grace Arizona Barrett Stephens. Charles loved Bluegrass and playing his guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Grace Stephens; his siblings: Helen Denbow, Clarence Stephens, Jr., Etta Stephens, Harman Stephens, Juanita Atwell, Melvin Stephens; Haselteen Brown; one son, Charles Joseph "CJ" Stephens; and his wife, Laverne Stephens.

Survivors include one son, Michael Stephens and his wife, Kathy, of Annada, MO; two daughters: Bekki Joseph and her husband, Tom, of Foley, MO and Paula Stephens of Troy, MO; five grandchildren: Heather Barber and her husband, Richard, Jesse Butts, Jared Moyer and his wife, Crystal, Josh Moyer and Kelsey Hilscher and her husband, Michael; and seven great-grandchildren: Meghan, Emily, Job, Addie, Miles, Gabriella and Abel. Charles also leaves one brother, Larry Stephens and his wife, Jeanne, of Eddyville, KY; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
