He served in the U.S. Navy for 13 years. After his discharge, he settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2004. Rick was a member and ruling elder emeritus of Pinewood Presbyterian Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the National Rifle Association and North Florida Archers.
Rick is survived by Diana, his wife of 27 years; Aaron and Bridgette Crose, his son and daughter-in-law; Hannah and Carson Slabaugh, his stepdaughter and son-in-law; his parents, John and Audrey Durst; his mother and father-in-law, Jim and Pat Nearhoof; and his grandchildren, Lydia and Levi Slabaugh. He is preceded in death by his son, Bradley Crose.
A small graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 11:00 am at Jacksonville Memory Gardens
