John married Blanche Bailey of Kerr County, Texas. John and Blanche had 4 children: Ethel, William, John, and Walter Ernest "Buster". They moved from Texas to OGeary, Oklahoma in June of 1900. Blanche died at Ogeary, Oklahoma on December 22, 1900 leaving her husband and four small children.
John Day went back to Texas where his mother Minnie Otillia Day cared for the children until seven years later when he married Ella Wood. John and Ella had 4 children: Teddy, Minnie, Tuddy, and Jessie.
