George went to Alaska in the late 1880's or early 1890's. He was away for a long time and was thought dead by his family as there had been a report of some kind of accident in the area where they thought he was. However, to their surprise he unexpectedly returned home one day. George had a wife and child in Tacoma, Washington.
George later married Addie Ivey. They were the parents of eight children, including three sets of twins: Cleveland, Thomas, Benjamin, Elmo, Alma, George, Clara, and Rose. They lived in San Antonio, Texas.
George died March 22, 1955 and is buried in Mission Burial Park, San Antonio, Texas.
