Mickey began working for LTV Aerospace in 1955 as a Systems Engineer and spent his career working on various missile systems. Mickey's job took him to California, Michigan, Johnston Island, Kwajalein, Hawaii, Alabama, and Texas. Although he lived and traveled many places, New Mexico was always his home. He returned as often as possible to visit family and attend the Melrose Old Timers Reunion.
Mickey met the love of his life, Alice, while working at White Sands, New Mexico. They married in 1967 and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. Mickey enjoyed playing bridge and horseshoes, fishing, golfing, cooking (his famous chimichanga's were a family favorite) and entertaining friends and family. He was also a member of the Elk's Club where he and his wife participated in ballroom dancing and even won a few contests.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Pruitt of McKinney, TX; son Derrell Pruitt and wife Petra of Richardson, TX; daughter Christine Mullis and husband David of Plano, TX; and brother Terry Pruitt and wife Tina of Evanston, WY. Mickey also leaves behind six grandchildren: David, Patrick, Ashley, Sarah, Jack, Rebecca and many nieces and nephews.
Mickey is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Peggy Laney, Neil Pruitt, Keith Pruitt and Jerry Pruitt.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 4th at Steed Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, New Mexico with graveside service to follow in Melrose.
