Obituary for Myrtle Lea Romer
Funeral services for Myrtle Lea Romer, 97, of Henderson, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at South Main Church of Christ with Bro.Bob Payne officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson.Mrs. Romer died July 14, 2010, at ETMC Henderson. She was born Jan. 18, 1913, in West Mountain, Texas and lived most of her life in Henderson. She was a member of South Main Church of Christ and was former director of Campfire Girls of America.Mrs. Romer was a past president of the Henderson Pilot Club and the AARP.She also served as a volunteer at the Chamber of Commerce and the Depot Museum. She was a charter member of the World War II Memorial Fund in Washington D.C. and a founding member of the William Phillips Family Association. Mrs. Romer also served as the executive director for the Campfire Girls of America in Marshall, and upon retirement, she was honored by the Mayor of Marshall as he deemed that day Myrtle Lea Romer Day.Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Romer.Survivors include: daughters, Linda Romer of Houston and Judy Nutter of Dallas.Pallbearers will be Charles Nilsen, Scott Crawford, Gary Crawford, Cornelius Matlock, Freddie Lofton and Ray Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Phillips, Gyp Hampton, Dr. Mike McCrady, Dr. David Craig and Luther Keitt.Memorials may be made to the Arms of Hope Children?s Homes at 21300 State Hwy. 16 N., Medina, TX 78055 and/or the HISD Alumni Association at P.O.Box 728, Henderson, TX 75653.Condolences may be made at www.crawfordacrim.com
