James Joseph Gliwa, age 68, of Pea Ridge, Ark., died Thurs., Nov. 18, 2021, at his lake home in Grove, Okla. He was born Sept. 28, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Ann Delores and Theodore Joseph Gliwa.
James had a large servant's heart. His smile could light up any room. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and although the stubborn Italian side would show through at times, he was a gentle, kind soul. Above all, he was passionate about serving God and others.
James had lived in the NW Ark. area since 1990 after moving from Cedar Rapids, IA., with Wal-Mart. He worked many years as an Executive Buyer with Wal-Mart and retired as a vendor.
James loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He took pride in sharing receipes, traditions, and special heirlooms passed down within his family. He enjoyed time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake.
James was an active member of Fellowship Bible Church where he served as a Gatekeeper and a Small Group Leader for the last several years. He was devoted to praying for others and volunteered at the church.
James was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Fiancee' Dierdre Austin of Rogers, Ark., children Cassy Ware (Greg) of Grove, Okla., Dina Ford (James) of Rogers, Ark., Avery Austin of Chicago, Ill., Taylor Glenn Austin (Katelin) of Omaha, NE., and William Austin (Lindsay) of Port Angeles, WA. Other survivors are his sister Shirley Brickman (Gary) of Shawnee, KS., 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several other relatives.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Mon., Nov. 22, 2021, at Epting Funeral Home, Bentonville, Ark. A celebration of life will be Tues., Nov. 23, 2021, at 10 am at Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers, Ark. Interment will follow at Benton County Memorial Park [3800 W. Walnut] in Rogers, Ark. Following the service there is a drop-in from 1-3 pm at daughter Dina's home.
