Born June 3, 1933, in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late J.W. and Mamie E. Ware Baldwin.
She spent the majority of her life in Grottoes with her husband, Douglas B. Johns, and retired from Stanley Furniture. After retirement she was employed by many other businesses in Augusta County and Waynesboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret A. Stevens.
She is survived by her husband, Doug; two sons, John E. Stevens ll of Lovingston and Clinton L. Stevens and his fiance, Doris Hamilton, of Waynesboro; a daughter, Roberta Shelton of Nelson County; an adopted daughter, Annette, of Gretna; five brothers; and five sisters.
She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Clinton L. Stevens Jr., Jennifer A. Stevens, Derrick Stevens and James Stevens; two stepgrandchildren, Christal Campbell and Brandy Wade; one great grandchild; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
She also leaves behind two very dear friends, Abby Lawson and Alice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor David Snodgrass officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Roseland.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Stevens, Chuck Stevens, Randy Stevens, Keith Stevens, Danny Johns and Aaron Branham. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at the funeral home.
