Vincent Angelo Cali was born in Hammond December 28, 1931, to the late Dominick and Mary Cannino Cali and passed away November 15, 2021, surrounded by his family at age 89. A man of peace, humility and service, Vincent exhibited a profound sense of family and community. He was a lifelong resident of Hammond. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. His hobbies were working on his strawberry farm, raising beagles and loved to rabbit hunt. He was a family man and dedicated to his church parish, Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church. As an educator, he was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University receiving his bachelor's degree in education and Louisiana State University receiving his master's degree in Agricultural Science. Vincent retired as a chemical operator with DuPont Chemical Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose Ferrante Cali; children, Dianne Gagliano (Gary), Dennis Cali (Rebecca), Sandy Flores (Carl), and Gregory Cali (Jessica Solar); grandchildren, Gary Gagliano (Hayley), Brian Gagliano (Corie), Michael Cali, Corbin Cali, Mathew Cali, Carson Flores (Leanne), Brennan Flores, Aaron Flores, Larra Cali, and Shelby Ridgel (Justin); great grandchildren, Kyler Gagliano, Averi Gagliano, Garrett Gagliano, Kathryn Gagliano, Justie Ridgel, Calin Ridgel and Charli Ridgel. In addition to his parents, Vincent is preceded in death by his siblings, Annie Stalone, Mary Costanza, Marian Distefano, Veda Andrepont, Frank Cali, Joe Cali, Sam Cali, and Veto Cali; and a great granddaughter, Stella Cecelia Gagliano. Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Monday, November 22, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, 14450 LA Hwy 442, Tickfaw. Interment will follow in Rose Memorial Park.
