Clara went to be with her Lord on November 11, 2021. She was born on Nov 25, 1924 in Salamanca, the daughter of Adolph and Pauline (Jonas) Ahrens. On Nov 28, 1946, she married Edward (Bud) Wagner who predeceased her on Apr 3, 2012. She attended Salamanca Schools and graduated in the class of 1942. She worked at F. W. Woolworth Co for 18 years. After it closed, she worked as a teacher aide at Jefferson St. School, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the House of Prayer, a volunteer for Interfaith Caregivers, and served as treasurer of the Cattaraugus Co. Bible Club.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and helping other people. She and her husband opened their home to many people in need of a home.
Surviving is a sister Rita Wymer, daughter Sally Bryan, grandson Jeremy Boucher, granddaughter Heidi (David) La Barbara, great granddaughter Emily La Barbara, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Adolph Ahrens and Fritz Ahrens, sisters Wilma Choo and Helen Babcock, brothers-in-lawm Walter Babcock and Francis Wymer; sisters-in-law, Millicent Ida (Crandall) Ahrens, Elaine Audrey (Raiber) Ahrens, and Barbara Beth (Pepper) Riddle Ahrens.
She donated her body to the University of Buffalo Medical School. A memorial service will be held on Sat, Nov 20, 2021 at 1:30 at the House of Prayer, 122 Highland Ave, Salamanca, NY.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to House of Prayer in Salamanca, Salamanca Historical Museum, or a charity of your choice.
