Julia was born on August 14, 1925 in Pierce Township, Texas County, Mo., the daughter of Andy and Else Mable (Van Vacter) Pruett. She was married on January 9, 1946 in East St. Louis, IL. to Martin Henry Petershagen Jr., who preceded her in death in 1982.
Julia was an extremely hard worker and always kept busy. In her younger years, she used her talents as a great cook to own diners in both St. Louis and Jefferson City. She retired after working for several years at the Royal Master Dry Cleaners. Julia kept herself busy in retirement by designing and making custom quilts.
She was an avid reader and could often be found reading different mysteries, westerns, and the "Cat Who" series. Julia also liked watching old movies, especially anything from the Golden Era or with Lucille Ball playing a part in the movie. Most of all, Julia cherished the time and memories that she made with her family and friends; especially having family gatherings, where she prepared the meals.
Survivors include: one daughter, Darla Petershagen of Fulton, Mo; three sisters, Doris Ellen Dixon of Fresno, Ca., Erma June Bell (husband, Lynn Wofford) of Bennett, Ark., and Polly Bell (husband, Marvin W. Hincha) of Olathe, Ks.; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Martin; one son, Joseph Donald Eugene Petershagen; one daughter, Maxine Kidd; an infant daughter, Donna Lee Petershagen; four brothers, Ralph Pruett, Carl Pruett, Ernst Pruett, and Robert Bell.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021 at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
