William E. "Bill" Bontz, Jr., age 66, of Vandalia, Missouri, passed away at 12:40 pm Saturday, November 13, 2021, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Waters Funeral Home. Pastor Jamie Franke will officiate. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery following the service.
Visitation celebrating the life of William E. "Bill" Bontz, Jr. will be held at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Waters Funeral Home.
William was born Dec. 8, 1954 in Vandalia. The son of Laura Mae (Marshall) Bontz and William E. Bontz, Sr.
He was united in marriage to Carol Smith on June 29, 1996. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include Son, Shane Bontz; Daughter, Crystal Bontz; two Stepsons, Jason and Jose Ramirez of Troy, Missouri; Grandchildren, Jocey Bontz of Vandalia, Lydia and Draven Bontz of the state of Louisiana; Sister, Denise (Rick) D'Arca of Ohio; Step-Grandchildren, Anthony Ramirez of Troy, Mariah Ramirez and Whitney Ramirez of Troy; one Nephew Paul D'Arca; Sister-in-law, Sandy (Randy) Lemmons of Oakland, Arkansas; and Brother-in-law, Doyle Smith of Gurdon, Arkansas.
Preceding him in death were his Parents; Grandparents, Guy Marshall and Florence Marshall and Ernest and Willia Marie Bontz; Nephew, Tony D'Arca; Mother-in-law, Eloise Smith; and Father-in-law, William Doyle Smith.
Bill graduated from Bowling Green High School Class of 1973. Following graduation he started working at Harbison Walker Refractories in Vandalia for 47 years before retiring in 2020.
Bill enjoyed spending time with family and doing crosswords. But most of all he enjoyed sitting outside with his best buddies, reminiscing old times, listening to music and drinking cold beer.
Pallbearers will be Dale Mudd, Leon Shaw, Tex Williams, Bill Shramek, Jason Ramirez, and Jose Ramirez III.
Honorary Pallbearers are Shane and Crystal Bontz, Jocey, Lydia, and Draven.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Missouri Humane Society in memory of his beloved dog, Bandit.
