Carl R. Brower, age 90, of Laurie, passed away Friday morning, January 5, 2007 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. He was born July 5, 1916 at Willard, Missouri, the son of James Weldon and Anna Looney Brower. He was united in marriage on February 3, 1940 in Springfield, Missouri, with O. Irene Brownell, who preceded him in death on January 3, 1986. On April 10, 2003 he married H. Virginia Chatham Green, who survives at their home. Mr. Brower worked as a cutter and design layout in the Garment Industry in Kansas City prior to retiring in 1981. While living in Kansas City he was an active member of Avondale United Methodist Church, and after moving to the lake area active in Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie, and currently the First Baptist Church in Sunrise Beach. He was also active in the Gravois Mills Fire Protection District, and was a member of the Osage Community Elks Lodge #2705 in Laurie. In addition to his wife Virginia he is survived by two daughters, Janice Shrewsbury and husband Edwin R., of Lathrop, MO, and Carol Croley of Tucson, AZ; five grandsons, Scott, Steven, John, and James Shrewsbury, and Matthey Ross, and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with Rev. Mearl Laswell officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Clear Creek Cemetery near Springfield, with his grandsons serving as casketbearers. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel. To send sympathy condolences to the family online visit www.kidwellgarber.com.
