"John L. Tompkins, 57, of 5340 N.E. Antioch, died Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. He was born in Williamstown, Mo., and had lived in this area since 1949. Mr. Tompkins had operated the John L. Tompkins Insurance Agency 27 years. He was a member of the Winnwood Baptist Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Thelma A. Tompkins of the home; two stepsons, Charles Y. Manahan and Jesse E. Manahan of Kansas City; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Barbara A. Jarrett of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mrs. Patricia L. Stockton of Raymore in Cass County; a sister, Mrs. Maurita Munzlinger of Williamstown; and 15 grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel; burial in White Chapel Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society."
