Shirley Ball Anderson was born December 12, 1925 to William and Laura Ball and went to heaven on November 7.

Shirley grew up on a rural Southeast Kansas farm with her two sisters.

After graduating high school, she met a young soldier, Gifford Watkins, from Texas and married in 1945; she relocated to Texas where she remained.

Shirley and Gifford raised three children in Bay City and Wadsworth, Tx.

Widowed in 1972, she continued to teach elementary school in Bay City before retiring in 1992.

Remarrying in 1974 to Albert Hite of Bay City, Tx, she took a break from teaching and helped him manage his clothing store. During their marriage, they traveled extensively and played many rounds of golf and bridge. After retiring, Shirley and Al relocated to Georgetown in 1993 to be closer to family. They continued to travel and enjoy life until Al's passing in 1998.

Born with a wandering spirit, Shirley continued to explore new places and people with friends and family. She was blessed with many talents. More than one grandchild learned the basics of golf from their grandmother. Known for her keen bridge playing, she would never turn down a challenge. She was also considered a Mexican train aficionado by her grandchildren. Her love of music and the piano were apparent in her home, and she spent years singing in church choirs. Her cooking abilities were renowned, and she leaves behind many family recipes to her granddaughters.

Shirley remarried in 2002 to a long-time Bay City friend, Roy Lee Anderson. She and Roy were always on the go and lived life to its fullest until his passing in 2018. Recently, Shirley had been suffering from the cruel effects of dementia and was residing at University Village in Round Rock at her passing.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary, Gifford Watkins, Al Hite, and Roy Lee Anderson.

Before all else, Shirley loved her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by children: Douglas Watkins (Judy), Pamela Watkins Pearson (Bill), and Eleene Watkins Carr (Mike). Grandchildren: Brad Watkins (Eveline), Daxton Watkins (Tataum), Claire Pearson (Rob), Austin Pearson, Alex Pearson, Laura Carr-Bagheri (Cooper), Hunter Carr (Lauren), and Vance Moore. Great-grandchildren: Avery Watkins, Ashlyn Watkins, Elle Ann Bagheri, Bo Ellis Bagheri, Cason Carr, and Lucas Moore. Stepsons: Ed Hite (Ginger), and Bill Hite. Step-great grandchildren: Aubrey Kinney, Aiden Hite, Sienna Hite, and Chance Thompson Sister: Margaret Ball Clugston. Beloved Cousin: Avis Allen.
We will miss our Mom, Grandma, Nanny, Neenah, and Gigi and her loving and feisty spirit. Her love and joy of life continues on in our hearts. We were so blessed to have her as the core of our family for 95 years.

Burial of her ashes will be at a future date in Bay City, Tx.
