Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Tice officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Costner was born December 23, 1914 in Gaston County, a son of the late Jacob S. and Oda Jane Blakenship Costner.
He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a US Army veteran of WWII. he was preceded in death by a son and daughter Kenneth Costner and Joyce Vaughn.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruby Gilmore Costner of the home; a son, James "Buddy" Costner of Harrisburg; 3 daughters, Margaret Pigg of Conway, SC, Doris Yem of Charlotte, and Lib Liles of Wadesboro; a brother, Carl Costner of Gastonia; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
