Shelby Carrier Kress Bailey Shelby Carrier Kress Bailey, 74, passed away at Wellmont Hospice House on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Nov. 11, 1936, and was a lifelong resident of Bristol Virginia/Tennessee. She graduated from Virginia High School in 1955 and was employed as an administrative assistant before her retirement from Sandvik Rock Tools. Shelby was a charter member of Fellowship Chapel. Shelby was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lessie Carrier; brother, Ronald Carrier; and sister, Janice Wilcox. She is survived by her husband, George Bailey of Bristol Tennessee; two sons, Darin Kress and wife, Jamie of Lakeland, Fla., Tyson Kress and wife, Debbie of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandson, Jared Kress of Lakeland; two step-daughters, Jan Gilley of Bristol Virginia, Lisa Bailey; and one stepson, Jeffery Bailey, both of Pennington Gap, Va.; four step-grandchildren, Adam, Brandon, Bryce and Christa; one step-great-grandson, Joseph; three sisters, Dolores Rosenberg of Rochester Hills, Mich., Evelyn Scott and husband, Bob of Mt. Holly, N.C., Kathy Shipley and husband, Lynn of Kingsport, Tenn.; one brother, Randall Carrier and wife, Betty of Bristol Tennessee; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Carrier of Bristol Virginia. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Price officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
