Henry was the husband of Ella Adeline (Mead) McVay (1856-1904). They were married on September 18, 1873 in Monticello, Jones County, Iowa and they had six children together including: Kenneth Ezra, Bertha May "Minna," Jay Kendrick, Ray Henry, Clyde Robert and Goldie McVay. Henry was the son of Robert McVay and Angeline (Hardesty) McVay.
