The adopted me when I was only 3 days old. Her arthritis was acting up then, but she didn't care.
When I was young, she was confined to a wheelchair. This was before handicapped parking or ramps. When we went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, we had to go through the freight entrance.
Through everything, all her pain, she never complained.
She died in her room, after being bedridden after a fall down the stairs. She said she loved me and went to sleep. My father and I were watching a baseball game at the time. I then, at 10, realized something was wrong. It was too late.
She is out of her pain, now.
I think about her often, although I have lived three times longer without her, than with her. God took her to be one of his Angels.
