Colette A. Dobson passed away peacefully on October 30, 2021, in Knoxville, TN, after a long battle with Dementia. She was born August 1, 1933, in Muskegon Heights, MI to Lester and Marion (Dexter) Ferris. After graduation from Muskegon Heights High School, she married Gary Dobson in June of 1952. They were married for 39 years, until Gary's death in 1991.
Gary and Colette moved to Mobile, AL in 1969. Colette spent most of her career working as a bookkeeper; sometimes keeping the books for multiple companies at a time until her retirement in 1994. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and knitting. She moved to Knoxville, TN in 1999.
SURVIVORS
She is survived by her four children: Gary Jr (Kim) Dobson of Coral Springs, FL, Greg Dobson of Poplarville, MS, Peggy (Joe) Hoffman of Ypsilanti, MI and Lisa Coontz of Knoxville, TN. Six grandchildren: Josh Dobson of Mobile, AL, Chris (Jennifer) Dobson of Mobile, AL, Nicki (Ken) Clerebout of Georgetown, KY, Drew (Caitlin) Dobson of McKinney, TX, Leslie Grimes of Knoxville, TN and James Grimes of Richmond, KY. Eight great-grandchildren: Maddison, Braxton and Olivia Dobson of Mobile, AL, Jaelyn Dobson of Gastonia, NC, Brantley and Landon Dobson of Mobile, AL and Owen and Camden Dobson of McKinney, TX. Three sisters-in-law: Pat Ferris of Hesperia, MI, Joan (Frank) Hughes of Traverse City, MI and Nanci (Tom) Brown of Traverse City, MI. A host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gary Dobson, siblings, Bonnie Ferris, Elmer Ferris, Lois (Robert) Buchanan and Leola (William) Hanna, daughter-in-law, Cindy Dobson Owens, son-in-law David Coontz and her granddaughter Barbara Hoffman.
