Erma A. Braunschweig
October 11, 1925 - August 31, 2012

Erma Adell Braunschweig, 86, of Ada, MN, died Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Bridges Care Center, Ada, MN. She was born October 11, 1925, to Knute and Selma (Opsahl) Knutson, Twin Valley, MN. Erma was baptized on November 22, 1925 near Twin Valley and later confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Ada. Her family lived along ways from town so Erma stayed with her Aunt and Uncle so she could attend country school in Syre. Erma's father would pick her up on Friday nights so she could be home for the weekend. Following her schooling, Erma worked in several jobs. When she was 18 Erma worked at a restaurant. She met Augie Braunschweig and dated for the next year.
Erma married August Braunschweig on June 11, 1950, in Ada, MN. They made their home in Ada, and for the first 16 years of their marriage cared for Augie's mother. Over the years, Erma was employed as a clerk in grocery stores and at area restaurants. Providing babysitting care also assisted many friends and family. Erma was a longtime and active member of Grace Lutheran Church and its ladies aid, Ada.
Taking a vacation to Yellowstone National Park and travelling to Lakeside, MT was a highlight in Erma's life. She enjoyed gardening and working with the ladies at church. A genuine love for others, a sensitive spirit and a listening ear was easily notice by those who knew Erma. Her son, Marvin, was the pride of her life and she loved the time they spent together.
Erma is survived by her son, Marvin and his wife, Dorothy, Moorhead, MN; one sister, Judy Pinske, Gary, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Vernon; three sisters: Joyce Forsythe, Shirley Kappes, and Mavis Wagner.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at 11 AM in the Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
