Herrin- James Alvin Terry (Wabash), passed from this earth at 2:00am on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at the age of 80 years. James was born on October 31, 1937 in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Stanley and Velma (White) Terry. He married Devedia B. Cornwell on June 21, 1956 in Vincennes, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2015. He was a member of the New Life United Pentecostal Church in Campbell, Missouri. James was also a proud United States Army veteran, having served from 1955-1958. Prior to his retirement, James had worked more than fifteen years at Allen's in Herrin. Survivors include- Son- Darrell Wayne Terry and wife Pam of Petersburg, IN Daughter- Fredia Terry of Malden, MO Daughter- Diana Needham and husband George of Campbell, MO Son- James "Jimmy" Terry and wife Lorrie of Campbell, MO Son- Samuel Terry and wife Nancy of Campbell, MO Daughter- Cindy Marks and husband Glenn of Christopher Daughter- Patricia "Trisha" Watson and husband Richard of Dexter, MO Daughter-in-law- Debbie Terry of Marion Thirty Five Grandchildren Thirty-Six Great Grandchildren Two Great Great Grandchildren Many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, wife- Devedia Terry, daughter- Carla Marie Tislow, granddaughter- Sarah Jane Tislow, four brothers- Don, Jerry, Buddy, and Bill Terry, and three sisters- Janet Botts, Darlene Walker, and Carolyn Sue Terry. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. George Needham and Rev. Richard Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Paulton with military honors provided at graveside.
