William "Billy" Thomas Abenathy, 62, of Elk Garden WV, passed away at his home on November 1, 2021. He was born November 19, 1958, in Elk Garden the son of the late Russell Lee Abernathy and Shirley (Greaser) Coleman.

He was the recipient of many Gold, Silver and Bronze medals from the Special Olympics and was a graduate of Southern High School. Billy joined the KVFD Co. #70 in 1983 and then relocated to the EDVFD Co. #140 in October 1992, and was a member of the Elk Garden Assembly of God Church. As a member of both they played an enormous part in his life that was noticed and praised many times by the family. He loved riding his 4-wheeler, visiting friends and family, stopping and asking anyone if they needed help regardless of what they were doing. He enjoyed going and being involved in church and the fire department. We said many times "it takes a village" and that was the case with Billy. He was a fixture in the Community, known by all.

He is survived by four sisters, Misty Barb, Kathy Paugh and husband Bernard, Sharon Paugh and husband Robert all of Elk Garden, and Lisa Davis and husband Tom of Kitzmiller; a brother, Joe Lucas and fiancé Emily Collett of Kitzmiller; his dog Sparky and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and many close friends.

Friends will be received at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St. Kitzmiller, Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 5 - 7 pm and on Friday, November 5, from 10 - 11 am at Elk Garden Assembly of God Church with a funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Greg Moreland officiating.
