Thomas Gordon Heffern was the only child of Gordon and Lenore Heffern. Tom grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, and attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School. His father, Gordon, passed away while Tom was in high school, so he had to assume responsibility at an early age. In 1963 he graduated from Bishop Ward High School.

After graduation, he went on to earn his Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. For 30 years he worked for Foxwood Drugs. Tom cared deeply for his customers and took great pride in knowing and serving them. He was in his element while managing Foxwood Drugs for over 30 years.

Tom was always happy and positive. He enjoyed collecting antiques and the occasional cigar and cold Budweiser. He was a devoted family man and was truly loved by his large circle of friends, some dating as far back as his school days.

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. . . unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear."
