"Grim Reaper Plucks Tender Flower
------
One of the saddest deaths which has ever occurred in our city was the passing of little Mary Will, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Allen, on the morning of Oct. 16th, at 11:50 p.m. after a lingering illness of several days.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1912 and was a bright and beautiful child, of great promise. The entire community had watched with greatest anxiety her illness, and had hoped, almost against hope, that she might be spared; but despite the efforts of friends and loved ones, and the best of medical skill, she succumbed to her ailment.
As has been many times remarked, while death is always a sad and calamitous occurrence, and the death angel never a welcome guest, the taking of a little child, with so much of hope, and promise, and usefulness, in store for it, brings an added sadness ot the event in its contemplation by the community as well as by those attached by tenderest ties.
There are not words which can really assuage the grief of loved ones at the taking away of those dear to their hearts, as much as friends would like to speak with words. We only know that God knoweth best, and in Gus wisdom "He doeth all things well."
In earth's garden there doth blossom
Many buds of promise rare;
As God walks among His flowers,
Each receives His special care.
But sometimes a bud He gathers,
From His garden here below;
And transplants it up to Heaven,
There forever more to blow.
Thus to bloom in Eden beauty,
Far above the radiant skies;
Where ne'er come the frosts of winter
There no flower ever dies.
Little Mary Will was such a flower,
Left a little while to bloom
In the lives of those about her,
Shedding forth a rich perfume.
But the Master sent His angels
Down to bear her soul above,
Where she lives and blossoms forever,
In that land of lIght and love."
