SOUTH BEND - Mr. Weldon D. Jefferies Sr., "Mr. Fantastic," was born April 29, 1944, in Cherokee County, South Carolina, went home to Paradise on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015. Weldon moved from South Carolina to South Bend, Indiana, on November 29, 1951. Weldon attended Washington High School. Weldon gave his life to Christ at an early age and he continued, throughout his life, to spread the "Good News" to everyone he came in contact with. Weldon never met a stranger; everyone was his friend.

Weldon worked at Clark's Equipment for many years, also the University of Notre Dame, where he retired in 2005, working there for 26 years. Weldon loved working for Notre Dame and had plenty of friends and colleagues that loved "Mr. Fantastic" and he loved them back. Preceding Weldon in death were his parents, Eugene & Lillie Virl (Makupson) Jefferies; three brothers, Bobby, Shannon and John Wayne; a son, Weldon, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Rolanda (Bruce) Jones, Chicago, IL, and Zina Taylor, Indianapolis, IN. A son, Terrance Jefferies, South Bend, IN. One sister, Freddie Mae Black, Carmel, IN, and one brother, Julius Jefferies, Elkhart, IN. Three grandchildren, Lia Jefferies, Louisville, KY, Ronald D. Milligan Jr. South Bend, IN, and Tevin Forrest. Three great-grand-children, Kha'Mani, Kalise and Kayla Bowers. Weldon has a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
