Minnie Gantt, former Norfolk woman, is dead
Services for Minnie L. Gantt, 97, 4679 Vinton St., Omaha, formerly of Norfolk, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Home for Funerals. The Rev. Martin L. Russert will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She died Monday at Hillhaven Nursing Home, Omaha.
She was born Jan. 25, 1888, in Lancaster County, Pa., the daughter of Josiah and Lucinda Zellers. She came to Nebraska with her parents and resided in the Blue Springs area, later moving to Marysville Kan.
She operated the hotel above Red Arrow in the 700 block, Norfolk Avenue, during the late 1940s and 1950s. Then she moved to Omaha to reside with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Lauretta) Jirsak. She resided with her daughter 28 years before moving to Hillhaven.
Besides her daughter, survivors include two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, one daughter, four brothers, and six sisters.
