Franklin D. Mickle, 84, went home to be with his Lord Monday evening, October 25, 2021 at the lovely rural setting of Trellis Supportive Care.
Franklin was born on April 12, 1937 in Surry County to the late James Montgomery and Iva Wood Mickle. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mayodan and was a retired Truck Driver. Franklin loved to be outside. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, squirrel hunting, as well as raising chickens. Franklin always had a green thumb, and loved raising tulips and azaleas. He was also a really great story teller.
In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Martin Mickle; and a son, Tony Mickle.
Franklin is survived by his 2 children, Felicia Smith and Monty Mickle; 3 grandchildren, Montana Mickle (Carlianne), Hannah Mickle, and Julia Mickle; 2 brothers, Eddie Wayne Mickle and Roger Mickle; sister, Polly Mickle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a 3:00 pm inurnment service held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Gardens of Memory with Rev. Randy Jessup officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
Social distancing guidelines will apply and facial coverings are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care: 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
