Robert G. Black, 94, of Brooks Mills, died Monday at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, after a brief illness. He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Fred and Rachel Black. He married Algie R. Shaw on Sept. 6, 1952, and she died March 6, 2015.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Black; and two sisters, Jean Hoover and Helen Eckard.

Robert was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center, in Altoona where he worked in heating and air conditioning. Robert was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Roaring Spring. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and volunteering. He volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels and the American Red Cross Blood Drives.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held by the Rev. Amanda McCaffrey. Interment will be made in Claysburg Union Cemetery. Contributions in Robert's memory may be given to St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
