Mr Rezin Boltin died at Mahomet, on June 22. He was born in Ohio, Feb 26, 1826.

In 1854, he came to Mahomet, then called Middletown, and located about two miles southwest of the village, where he cleared a piece of land and proceeded to make a home which he occupied until about 1880, when he built a residence in the village.

About 10 years ago, Mr Boltin became interested in electricity and made a number of uses of this wonderful agent, his teacher being works on this subject and the experiments he made.

Mr Boltin was married in 1847 to Miss Brown of Ohio, who died in June 1853.

In October 1854, he married Miss Mary Smith, who was killed by a I.B. & W. Train in this city in 1881.

Later, he married Mrs Rebecca Leckilder, who died in Ohio about five years ago.

The children who survive Mr Boltin are:
Mrs J W Tanner of Mahomet, with whom he made his home.
Mrs Gearhart Tanner of Texas
Warren Boltin of Texas
Jacob Boltin of Texas
William Boltin of Urbana.

Rezin Boltin was born in Darke County, Ohio, Feb 26th, 1826. He is the son of William and Dorcas (Johnson) Boltin, also natives of Ohio.

In early life, while yet a resident of Ohio, Mr Boltin learned the carpenter's trade and later the photographic art. As a Carpenter, he assisted in building a large number of buildings in the Village of Mahomet.

He came west in September 1854, and settled in Middletown, now Mahomet, and there he has made his home to the present.

When Mr Boltin first went to town, there were but two stores. One was kept by a man by the name of Hill and the other by a man by the name of Owens. He has lived there long enough to see the town grow up from a small, insignificant village to one of nearly 1000 population.

Mr Boltin was first married to Polly Ann Brown, in Darke Co, OH, Oct 27, 1847. She died in Greenville, OH in June 1853.

While a resident of Greenville, he married Mary Smith on Oct 5, 1854. She died in Mahomet in the fall of 1881.

He married his present wife, Rebecca Sicklider in Darke Co, OH, Feb 21, 1882. She is still living.

He is the father of the following children:

James Bolton, married Hannah Swanson, of Mahomet
Alice Boltin, wife of William Tanner, of Mahomet
Elwain Boltin is single
Warren Boltin is single
Mary Boltin married Gerhart B Tanner, resides in Mahomet
Rezin Boltin, the youngest of the family resides in Mahomet

Mr Boltin united with the Christian Church about 38 years ago. His political affiliations have always been with the republican party. He is now a Justice of the Peace.
