DISCREPANCIES re date of birth: There are two indicators that James was born in 1841: (a) the Grave Registration Card, and (b) the Clinton Co cemetery database (2018), which may have used the Grave Registration Card as its source. But the 1841 year of birth is disproved by both the 1880 census (when James was age 49 and the 1900 census (which specifically says that James was born Nov 1831). So perhaps we have a simple typo (1841 for 1831) on the Grave Registration Card.

Clinton Co cemetery database (2018) says, "B. 1841 [should be 1831], Bur. Sec 1 Lot 62 grave 4, Civil War Army Veteran."

Many thanks to Will Motsinger for finding this (and for other help with this memorial and others): "I found an article in the Wilmington Journal on Wednesday, February 17, 1904 that said " Mr. Caldwell & wife & Jessie Garner & wife attended the funeral at Second Creek , on Tuesday, of James Tullis, of Mainville, Mrs. Caldwell was a cousin of Mr. Tullis."

Will also found this: "Found the 1900 Census for Maineville, Hamilton Twp., Warren Co., Ohio that lists James Tullis, Widowed, Born: Nov., 1831, age: 68,
Members of household: Son James R, born: Nov., 1875.
Daughter: Margaret, Born: Sept., 1875."
