Helene T. (Franz) Mazza Grucza, age 93, of Erie, passed away Tuesday October 19, 2021, at Millcreek Community Hospital. She was born in Ashtabula, OH., March 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Henry J. and Helen (Roach) Franz.
Helene had been a repair operator at GTE for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing and hunting.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward F. Mazza and her second husband, William Grucza in 2009, and three brothers; Jim Franz, Robert Franz and Henry Franz.
Survivors include five children; Paul Mazza of Warren, OH., John Mazza, Mary Ann Mazza, James Mazza and Anne Mazza all of Erie. Three grandchildren; James Steadman Jr., James Mazza and Lisa Marie Weis, eight great-grandchildren; Ethan Steadman, Aydenn Steadman, Cole Mazza, Cheyenne Mazza, Maya Weis, Landen Weis, George Weis and Henry Weis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Private services for the family will be held on Monday at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd. with the Rev. Brian Vossler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Gregory Cemetery, North East.
