Ellen Irene Loewen of Roeland Park passed away peacefully on October 19, 2021, at the age of 88, She was born on November 20th, 1932, in Independence, Iowa, to Peter Schellenberg Loewen, M.D. and Nell McLeod Loewen, M.D. Irene was always very generous, often forgoing her own needs to give money to a friend-in-need, her children and grandchildren. She opened her home to anyone or any pet in need showering them with love and shelter. She loved sweets, dessert and coffee. She enjoyed visiting museums, people watching, touring homes, gardening, high-tea and listening to Mozart. She collected Hummels, art, and antiques. Most of all she loved visiting her grandchildren and gardens, especially those filled with roses. Irene is survived by two daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by Ismail Middien.
