Shirley was a beloved mother to Ellen Vance, Andre McGhee and a devoted fiancé to Brant Karr.
She was a beloved sister to all her brothers and sisters.
Shirley was born May 31, 1949, in Montgomery, Alabama, to James and Addie McGhee. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, gardening, fashion and spending time with nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her son, Andre McGhee; daughter, Ellen (Joe) Vance; fiancé, Brant Karr; sisters, Barbara McGhee, Brenda McGhee; brother, Larry McGhee; special cousin, Joy Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James and Addie McGhee; brothers, Donald McGhee, Jerry McGhee, James McGhee; and sister, Jeanette McGhee.
Service will be noon Friday at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, 2124 Cedar St., with visitation two hours prior to service. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
