Claude Leon Mathis, 73, of 313 Deana Lane, Blacksburg, S.C. passed away Monday, October 18th, 2021, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Gastonia N,C,, he was the husband of Brenda Taylor Mathis and the son of the late Charlie Lee Mathis and Tommy Kirkland Mathis.
Mr. Mathis retired as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Mathis is survived by one son, Charlie Lee Mathis of Gastonia; two daughters, Crystal Simmons (Ernie) of Chesnee, S.C. and Marie Baldwin of Ranlo, N.C.; his sisters, Tammy Suttles (Roger), Faye Moss (Jackie), Carol Hardin (Paul) and Joyce Thomas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Doug Baldwin and his siblings, Roy Mathis, Wanda Russell, Eddie Mathis, Wayne Mathis, and Barbara Gibson.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Frederick Memorial Gardens, 986 Chesnee Highway, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.
The family will be at their respective residences.
