Roger Ferrell Boyd was born in Abilene, Texas, on September 1, 1933, to Ferrell and Fairie Lee Boyd.

He entered the gates of heaven on October 17, 2021.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Abilene Municipal Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.

Roger attended schools in Eula and Abilene, Texas.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in June 1953 and was honorably discharged in March 1955.

After returning to Abilene, he met and married the love of his life, his "Bride," Iwanda Brunson. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on November 26, 2020. The couple moved to Odessa, Texas, in 1957, where Roger began a 32-year career with El Paso Natural Gas Company. Before his retirement, they established the "Muddy River Ranch" in Abilene, Texas, and soon built "The Lean-To." After retirement in 1990, side by side, Roger and Iwanda built their forever home on the Muddy River Ranch.

Roger accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on November 22, 1992, and was baptized at Hodges Baptist Church. In 2015, declining health brought them to Big Spring, Texas, to be close to their children and grandchildren. They then became members of Trinity Baptist Church.

Roger is survived by his wife Iwanda, son Roger Boyd (Deana) of Odessa, daughter Darla Batla (Garry) of St. Lawrence, grandchildren Misti Cherry (Luke) of Garden City, Kyndra Fulbright (Chris) of Big Spring, and Clayton Boyd (Marcia) of Keller, great-grandchildren M'Kynlee, Kailyn, Phoenix, Hendrix, and Beckett (arriving in December), sisters Jean Dalton and Wanda Beaird, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, and grandchildren Clinton Boyd, Boyd Batla, and Kayla (Boyd) Knox.

The family would like to thank Roger's caregivers at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home and Scenic Mountain Medical Center, as well as their friends for their love and support. Donations can be made to your favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com
