Abraham Albert Eichler, 92, of South Orange died Sept. 14. Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington and Maplewood before moving to Maplewood six years ago. An attorney for more than 50 years, Mr. Eichler founded the law firm of Eichler, Forgosh, Gotilla & Rudnick of Chatham, with offices in Irvington and Morristown. He served as counsel to the Irvington Board of Education from 1953 to 1959 and as counsel for the Master Furriers Guild of America. Mr. Eichler was a member of the American, New Jersey, and Irvington bar associations, the Trial Lawyers of America, and the American Judicature Society. He graduated from New Jersey Law School in 1932. Mr. Eichler was a past president of Temple B'nai Israel, Irvington, where he also served on the board of trustees, and was chair of the ritual committee and the committee for adult study. He was chair of the social action committee for the Northern New Jersey region of United Synagogue of America and a member of its executive board. Mr. Eichler was a former judge advocate of the Jewish War Veterans Post 309 and paymaster for Coast Guard League Chapter 303. He was the first chancellor commander of the Knights of Pythias Franklin D. Roosevelt Lodge 8, a member of the F&AM Diogenes Lodge 52, and the Salaam Temple of Newark. He was also secretary for the Home of the Chronic Sick.

Predeceased by his wife, Dinah, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara Nusbaum of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Judith Berwitz of Livingston; six grandchildren; and four great-grand-children.

Services were held Sept. 15 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
